Privacy Policy
Last updated:
Extimeout runs locally on your Android device. It has no account, advertising, analytics, subscription or app-operated cloud service.
Extimeout is developed and published by Veritware Pty Ltd (“Veritware”). This policy explains the device information used to run its screen-timeout sessions, information you choose to send for support, and visits to these webpages.
Information used on your device
Extimeout reads and temporarily adjusts Android screen-timeout settings and, when you choose dimming, brightness settings. It keeps the previous values and session timing needed to manage the session and attempt restoration. It also reads battery level, charging state, permission status and relevant Android timeout restrictions.
Your preferences, including session duration, Quick Settings behaviour, dimming, battery safeguard, charging options and appearance, are stored locally. Recovery information is stored on the device so restoration can be attempted after an interruption or restart.
The production app has no internet permission or networking service. It does not send these settings, usage events or diagnostic information to Veritware automatically. It does not use advertising, analytics or remote crash-reporting services.
Android permissions and access
- Modify system settings: used to change and restore screen timeout and optional brightness settings.
- Notifications and foreground operation: used to show and manage an active session, including its Restore now action.
- Startup recovery: used to check saved recovery information after Android restarts.
- Uninstall request: the in-app Uninstall Extimeout action restores and checks settings before opening Android’s uninstall confirmation.
These permissions do not give Extimeout access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera, messages or content displayed in other apps. You can manage permissions in Android settings. End any active session and check restoration before removing Modify system settings access.
Diagnostics you choose to share
The Diagnostics screen assembles a report locally. It can include the device manufacturer and model, Android and app versions, permission and notification status, timeout and brightness values, battery and charging status, session times and recovery state.
Copy diagnostic report puts that report on your device clipboard; it does not send it to us. If you paste it into email or another app, that app receives the report. Review it before sharing. Clipboard access and retention are controlled by Android and the apps you use.
Retention, removal and backups
Preferences and any recovery information remain in app storage for the operation of Extimeout until changed, cleared or removed. The app disables Android cloud backup and excludes its data from the backup and device-transfer rules it supplies to Android.
Use Uninstall Extimeout in the app’s Settings when removing the app. Clearing storage or uninstalling directly through Android during a session can remove the information needed to restore your previous settings. If that has happened, check timeout and brightness manually in Android settings.
There is no Extimeout online account or server copy of your app preferences to delete. Reports you copied or sent elsewhere, and support messages already sent to us, are separate from app storage.
Support, app stores and the website
If you contact Veritware, we receive your email address, message and any report or attachment you choose to provide. We use them to answer your request, investigate the problem and keep necessary support records. We do not sell this information or use it for advertising.
Email providers handle support messages, and Cloudflare hosts and protects these product webpages. Website services can process technical information such as IP address, browser details, request time and security logs. Opening a website from Extimeout uses your browser and its network connection, separately from the offline app.
Google or your device provider may process download, device or diagnostic information under its own terms and your settings. These independent platform services are separate from information transmitted by Extimeout.
Website and email providers can process information outside your country, including in the United States. We retain correspondence only as needed to handle your enquiry, resolve a dispute or meet a legal requirement. Where applicable, our basis for this processing is responding to your request, legitimate interests in support and security, or compliance with law.
Your choices and contact
For privacy questions, or to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent to us, email privacy@veritware.com and mention Extimeout. We may need to verify a request and will explain any information that must be retained. Other rights may apply in your location; you can also raise a concern with your local privacy regulator.
For app help, use Extimeout Support. We will update this policy and its date if information-handling practices change, with additional notice where required.
